Molding & Cornice — common questions
Plaster or polyurethane cornice?
Polyurethane is lighter, cheaper and fine for most apartments. Plaster holds a crisper profile and suits high ceilings and heritage-style rooms. We will show you both profiles at the survey.
Can molding be added after painting?
It can, but it costs more. Cornice and panelling should go in before the final coats so the joints are filled, sanded and painted as one surface rather than caulked over afterwards.
Will the corners open up over time?
Not if they are mitred and bonded on site rather than butted. Movement joints and correct filler matter here, which is why we cut on site instead of fitting pre-cut lengths.
